Easy access to academic courses is one of the benefits of working in higher education. If you are a postdoc interested in registering for a graduate course, you first need to check with your department administrator to determine how the course expense will be covered and if the application fee will be waived.
Paying for the Course:
If you are classified as an employee, you are eligible for the IU Tuition Benefit through Human Resources. If you are not classified as an employee and funded under a training grant, often the grant includes funding for tuition and professional development programs. Speak to your department and/or grant administrator to learn how to proceed.
Registering for the Course:
If you are registering for a course but not seeking another degree, you are classified as Graduate Non-Degree (GND). You first have to complete the GND application. This application is available online through the Graduate Office and typically includes an application fee. Prior to completing the application, speak to your department administrator as they often will request the application fee to be waived. After submitting your application, you will receive a confirmation email from the Graduate Office and detailed instructions on how to register for the course. If you have specific questions about the GND program, contact the Graduate Office at (317) 274-1577 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
